Kim Salerno’s fine art assimilates many interests including color theory, historic landscape painting and architecture to yield painterly, fluid, and vividly spatial collage. Landscape imagery is re-imagined and reconfigured as digitally constructed space. Pattern and repetition seem merely decorative, but upon closer inspection hint at nature on the verge of chaos. Order grows wild like weeds and the flora blooms in excess. These seemingly place-less landscapes are marked by transparency, reflection and repetition. The result is ambiguous space, which feels both nowhere and everywhere. The delicate tipping point of the natural world is palpable as nature’s fragile equilibrium is visibly questioned in these often serene but unsettling other-worlds.
